Terms of Service
These terms cover roofing work carried out by Tulsa Roof Works in Oklahoma. In short: quotes are free and hold for 30 days, nothing is due before materials are delivered, any change to the scope is agreed in writing before it is done, our workmanship is warranted, and Oklahoma law governs the agreement.
1. What these terms apply to
They apply to inspections, quotes and roofing work we carry out for you at a property in Oklahoma. Accepting a written quote from us means accepting these terms. Where a signed contract for a specific job says something different, that contract wins on that point and everything else here still applies.
2. Inspections and quotes
Inspections and the photo report that comes with them are free, and the report is yours whether or not you go ahead.
A quote is valid for 30 days from the date on it. After that we may need to reprice, because shingle and metal prices move and Oklahoma storm seasons move them fastest.
Every quote is written and itemized. It sets out the work, the materials, the per sheet rate for any decking replacement, the permit, disposal and the price. A verbal figure given on a roof or a driveway is an estimate to help you decide, and only the written quote is binding.
3. Booking and access
We agree a start date with you and keep you posted as it approaches. Roofing depends on weather. Lightning, high wind, heavy rain and ice all stop work, and we will move a date rather than put a crew on an unsafe roof or install shingles in conditions that will shorten their life.
To do the work we need reasonable access to the property, room for a material drop, room for a dumpster or dump trailer, and access to power and water where the job calls for it. Please move vehicles, patio furniture and anything fragile away from the elevations we are working on. Tell us in advance about septic lines, sprinkler heads, pets, gate codes, low power lines and anything else worth knowing.
If we arrive to a property we cannot access or cannot safely work on, and nobody told us beforehand, we may charge a call out for the wasted visit.
4. Changes to the scope
Roofs hide things. Split board decking, rotten fascia, an unexpected second layer of shingles and failed structural framing are the usual ones, and none of them can be seen before the old roof comes off.
When we find something, we stop, photograph it and show you before any extra work happens. Where the item already has a rate on your quote, such as decking per sheet, we count it in front of you and apply that rate. Where it does not, we price it and get your agreement in writing, which includes a text message or an email, before we carry on.
We will not do extra work you have not agreed to and then bill you for it.
5. Pricing and payment
No deposit is due before your materials are delivered to the property. That is a commitment, and it applies to every job.
Unless your quote says otherwise, the balance is due on completion of the work. We take card, check and bank transfer. Invoices carry the payment terms on them.
Where the work is being paid for through an insurance claim, the contract for the work is between you and us. You remain responsible for the invoice, including your deductible. Oklahoma law prohibits a contractor from paying, waiving, absorbing or rebating a property insurance deductible, and we will not do it. We also cannot promise that a carrier will approve a claim or pay a particular amount.
Overdue balances may carry interest at the rate stated on the invoice, applied from the due date.
6. Cancellation
You can cancel a booked job at any point before materials are ordered at no cost. Tell us as early as you can.
Once materials have been ordered or delivered specifically for your job, we may charge the cost of any material that cannot be returned, plus any restocking fee a supplier applies. Once work has started, we may charge for the work completed and the materials used to that point.
Where the law gives you a right to cancel a home solicitation sale within three business days, that right applies and is set out in the paperwork you sign.
7. Workmanship warranty
Our labor is warranted in writing for the term stated on your contract. That covers our installation. If a leak is caused by how we fitted something, we come back and put it right at no charge.
Materials carry the manufacturer warranty, and we register it in your name so you hold it directly.
The warranty does not cover damage from later storms, hail, wind, fire, falling limbs, foot traffic, work by other trades on the roof, structural movement of the building, blocked gutters or a lack of maintenance. It also does not cover roofs we repaired rather than replaced, beyond the specific repair itself.
8. Your responsibilities afterward
Keep gutters and valleys clear. Keep tree limbs trimmed back off the roof surface. Tell us promptly if you see a problem rather than waiting, because a small leak left running does far more damage than the leak itself. Let us know before another contractor works on the roof, so warranty questions stay simple.
9. Limitation of liability
We carry responsibility for the work we do and for damage we cause. We are not responsible for pre existing defects we did not create, for damage arising from conditions we told you about and you chose not to address, or for indirect or consequential losses such as lost rent, lost business income or alternative accommodation.
Our total liability for any claim connected to a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
10. Complaints
Call us first. Most problems on a roof are fixed faster by the crew who built it than by anybody else. Put it in writing if you would rather, and we will respond and set out what we intend to do about it.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oklahoma, and the courts of Tulsa County, Oklahoma have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
